The
Sector
Skills Development Agency (SSDA) underpins the network
of influential employer-led Sector Skills Councils (SSCs)
and promotes effective working between sectors across the
UK. It funds, supports and champions the Sector Skills
Councils as well as a series of four cross sector
boards. It also
leads essential development work for those
professions not covered by a Sector Skills
Council.
Sector Skills Councils lead the skills and
productivity drive in industry and business sectors
recognised by employers. They bring together
employers, trade unions and professional bodies in
key employment sectors working with government to
develop the skills that UK business needs.
The cross sector boards, made up of
representatives from each Sector Skills Council, have
been established to deal with the four priority areas
of IT User skills, employability skills,
management and leadership, and
sustainable skills.
