Bridget Campbell

Headed by Bridget Campbell the Police & Community Safety Directorate is responsible for policy and funding on police, fire and rescue services, emergency planning and civil contingencies, community safety and drugs misuse.

Directorate contributes to safer and stronger communities particularly in relation to resilience, safety and public order. It works with Ministers and stakeholders to:

  • Ensure that Scotland has the resilience to deal with the consequences of any likely emergency
  • Promote community safety and reduce problem drug use
  • Improve the capacity of police services to deliver effective policing in Scotland's communities and to strengthen Scotland's national policing capability
  • Improve the effectiveness of fire and rescue services in reducing the economic and social impact of fires and other emergencies
  • Ensure that Scottish Justice policies are based on sound evidence and we measure progress objectively

Directorate is made up of five Divisions including:

  • Organised Crime & Support Services

  • Police Powers, Performance & Resources
  • Scottish Resilience
  • Drugs & Community Safety
  • Justice Analytical Services
