Andy Robb
Directorate for Rural Payments and Inspection is headed by Andy Robb and aims to promote development in rural areas and empower communities so that their particular views and circumstances are reflected in government policies and priorities.
The Scottish Government acknowledges that issues such as transport, education and health can have a particular impact on rural communities and seeks to reflect this in mainstream policy development.
The Rural Payments and Inspections Directorate is part of the Scottish Government's Greener Scotland portfolio, together with the Rural, Environmental Quality, Marine, and Rural and Environmental Research and Analysis directorates. It assists in the delivery of the "Greener Scotland" Agenda and Outcomes and considered as to be the public face of Rural Affairs and provide the main points of contact with rural beneficiaries through its network of local Area Offices and through their direct contact with headquarters. It is responsible for implementation and delivery of grants, subsidies and other Government policies to the agricultural industry as well as the development and support of the Information Technology Systems to enable the delivery of the schemes. Directorate provides professional agricultural advice and information to Scottish Ministers, the general public and other colleagues in the Scottish Government as well as provide professional advice on IT systems to the agricultural and fisheries interests within the Portfolio.It also works closely with the Crofters' Commission and act as agents in regulatory matters.
